Recap: Bike Fort Worth with Mayor Betsy Price

Almost sixty hardcore cyclists, some from Oakhurst and many more from other parts of the city, joined Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price on Wednesday, March 20, for a 5.2-mile ride through Oakhurst. Mayor Price and her staff were ecstatic with the turnout and reception and said this was the best event of its kind yet this year. They praised the ONA organizers and said others will have a high bar to top to surpass the spread Oakhurst put on.

Riders were impressed with Oakhurst's hills, the beauty of the neighborhood, and the friendliness of the neighbors. Oakhurst neighbors came out to talk with the mayor and cheer the group on as they left. Some residents stood on their front porches to wave as the mayor and crew rode by. The event started at 5:30pm, with the ride taking place from around 5:45-6:20. The mayor seemed reluctant to leave, as it was 7:00pm before she and her security aide loaded up their bikes and waved goodbye. The general consensus was that it was a great day and a nearly-perfect event. The mayor said she and Bike Fort Worth—or perhaps a walking town hall meeting—would be back in Oakhurst sometime soon!
