Join us this Thursday night for Oakhurst Neighborhood Association's General Membership Meeting and Spring Social! Bring something tasty to eat and share, and enjoy some time with your neighbors following the meeting agenda detailed below. This meeting also represents the start of a new membership year, so it's a great time to pay your dues if needed. How to Research Your House History Our guest speaker for the evening, Suzanne Fritz, will be presenting How to Research Your House History. Suzanne is a Librarian with the Genealogy, History and Archives Unit of the Fort Worth Library. She previously served as a Public Service Librarian and Genealogy Specialist in Naples, FL. Suzanne received her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA, and her M.S., L.I.S., from Simmons College in Boston. She is interested in a variety of topics: Italian-American immigration, German-American genealogy, and Native American records. She’s finding that one of the benefits of moving to Texas has been discovering how much there is to enjoy in regard to Texas genealogy and history. Suzanne contacted ONA several months ago and offered to present this program as a part of the Fort Worth Library’s outreach to neighborhoods. She wrote, “All contributions to your historic house’s history are worthwhile and meaningful. With this presentation, you will learn how to begin your research. You will learn how to discover when your house was constructed, determine who its early occupants were and find out about resources available at the Fort Worth Library that can help you.”
The Oakhurst National Register Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.
