Almost sixty hardcore cyclists, some from Oakhurst and many more from other parts of the city, joined Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price on Wednesday, March 20, for a 5.2-mile ride through Oakhurst. Mayor Price and her staff were ecstatic with the turnout and reception and said this was the best event of its kind yet this year. They praised the ONA organizers and said others will have a high bar to top to surpass the spread Oakhurst put on.

Our neighbor Libby Willis writes:
1. The mayor's Bike Fort Worth event took place yesterday at Oakhurst Park. Many, many thanks to all who made it happen, including Glenda Shelton, who organized the tables, refreshments, music, sound system, etc.; Phyllis and Fred Anglin; Sharon Buse; and so many others (a complete list of all the volunteers will be in the April Oak Leaflet). The mayor and her staff said it was the best of these events they have had this year and that Oakhurst set the bar very high. From our neighbor Libby Willis:
Dear Oakhurst Neighbors: Today's the day! Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price brings her "Bike Fort Worth" event to our neighborhood this afternoon at 5:30pm at Oakhurst Park. They will wind up back at the park about 6:15 or 6:30. Mark your calendars for March 30, and bring the kids out to Oakhurst Park for a host of Easter-themed activities!
Egg hunts will be held for ages 1-10. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures. "The Little Free Library started with a lone outpost in Hudson, Wisconsin and has snowballed into a feel-good national phenomenon that packs literacy, neighborhood bonding, civic pride and artistic creativity into one tidy package," wrote Steve Campbell in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in July 2012. When I saw this article, I thought it would be a perfect fit for our neighborhood! Please click here to download the 2013 ONA Membership Form.
