We have received word that Mayor Betsy Price will conduct her neighborhood bike ride in OAKHURST! The 5.2-mile ride will start in Oakhurst Park at 5:30pm on Wednesday, March 20. The group will loop in and out of the neighborhood and ride on Oakhurst Scenic Drive. The ride ends back at Oakhurst Park, and ONA will provide sports drinks and energy bars for the riders. All Oakhurst residents are encouraged to come out and greet the mayor (and ride along with her) that day! Here's the route map:

Longtime Oakhurst resident Duffy Lee died on January 16, after struggling the last couple of years with cancer. She was 87. Duffy was an extremely active member of both the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association and the Oakhurst Citizens on Patrol. She had lived in Oakhurst since the 1950s, on Morning Glory Avenue, where she served as a street representative for many years.
On Thursday, January 31st, the City of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth League of Neighborhoods held their annual citywide neighborhood awards dinner. Neighborhood of the Year and several other awards were presented to neighborhood and homeowners associations, as follows:

Legend Bank of Bowie, Texas, and the Tarrant Regional Water District have requested that property they own at the corner of I-35W and Northside Drive be rezoned to accommodate an apartment project. The property is currently zoned "O-1" Floodplain and "PD-399" Planned Development/Specific Use for all uses in "F" General Commercial except certain prohibited uses; the requested change is to zoning category "PD/D" Planned Development for all uses in "D" High Density Multifamily with a site plan included. Ken Schaumburg is the architect on the project. |
